HOUSTON, Texas. In response to the growing need for patient-focused, physician-directed healthcare, a consortium of physicians and medical executives have united to form Altus Healthcare Management Services (Altus HMS). U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee is scheduled to make the formal introduction of the new company name at a celebration gala on Saturday, November 12. With the launch of Altus HMS, TrueMRI at 9901 Town Park Drive, a medical facility which was originally conceived by the consortium in 2003, will carry the Altus name and be the first in a network of medical malls planned throughout greater Houston. All of the Altus HMS facilities will feature hospital-level service in a setting that is at once contemporary and equipped with the latest technology yet patient-friendly and comfortable.
Committed to providing a medical environment with the latest technologies, Altus aims to empower physicians to offer treatment that is governed by patient need, not influenced by outside agencies with extensive red tape. “Our physicians are driven to provide the utmost in care to their patients, and our facilities will follow suit. What our physicians want for their patients, we aim to provide,” said Kraig W. Killough, executive vice president. “The level of care is personal, one-on-one with physicians and staff who are highly educated and informed. Our equipment is of the highest quality, as evidenced by the fact that we are one of only three companies in greater Houston to offer a system-specific, weight-bearing, open MRI scanner for a more comfortable procedure and more accurate results.”
Services that are offered at the Altus HMS facility include:
• Oprex Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC): a multi-specialty, freestanding outpatient surgery facility certified by the Medicare and Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). Surgical services include Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine; Ear, Nose and Throat; Podiatry; Pain Management; and Plastic Surgery.

The word altus means height or peak and the mountain on the logo symbolizes strength and a high standard of excellence. According to the company profile: “The concept of orogenesis, or mountain building, is the heart of our ideology. Similar to how mountains are created when two continental plates collide, Altus HMS was formed from the impact of dynamic physicians who came together to attain higher levels in the medical fields.” As the group unites with others for form new partnerships, additional mountains and facilities will emerge.
The first Altus HMS facility, located at 9901 Town Park Drive in West Houston, has convenient freeway access and is within five minutes of three of the city’s major hospitals.
To christen the new company, physicians, executives, employees and invited government dignitaries will celebrate at a private gala on Saturday, November 12. The event, held at the Hilton Americas-Houston, will officially introduce the company name and logo.
