Members of the community welcomed the Rent-A-Center of Downers Grove to the neighborhood at a grand opening celebration on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Rent-A-Center contributed $1,000 to the Family Shelter Service. Pamela Rasmussen, the Facilities and CDBG Administrator, expressed her appreciation for the contribution. "The Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) recently cut the funding to our Children's Program, and this gift will help ensure a safer future for children affected by domestic violence."
