Elizabeth Rastner dies leaving her teenage daughter, Thelma, the responsibility of an extended family. Shattered relationships, complicated social ties and normal events of farm life impose continual challenges for Thelma. Through the screen of humor and pathos, the people in this novel experience a human condition that is neither heroic nor tragic. Just ordinary people seeking fulfillment and finding joy, sadness and a sustained optimism while struggling to find that balance between themselves and their environment.

Roger Storkamp recently sought refuge in Las Vegas, Nevada to digest a thirty-five-year career of teaching high school English and education courses at the university level. He needed to release some of the characters that invaded his psyche during his childhood and teen years in a small town in a rural Minnesota among third and fourth generation German Catholics. Away to college was his excuse to escape as a young man. He went back to his origins to endear himself to the people who helped mold his character.

Roger holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin and did post graduate work at Pepperdine University in California, Nova University in Florida, Fordham University in New York, and at Texas, Minnesota and Wisconsin State Universities. He taught education courses at United States International University in San Diego. He earned a Doctor of Arts degree from East Coast University in Florida.
