Salt Lake City, UT June 25, 2012 - 12 year old Sarah Kligmann knew that she was not helpless when her Aunt Laura was struggling to pay the bills associated with her stage 4 breast cancer. She began a campaign to raise money to help. She started with a 5K run with her young friends and together they knocked on doors to get sponsors, and then she organized a carnival and raffles. To date she has raised nearly $1000.

As she worked to raise money, the community stepped up to help and the effort has blossomed.

Laura St Jacques is a mom of five kids ages 9-18 and was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in January of 2010. In March of 2012 it spread throughout her skeleton and has invaded her liver as well. Her history teacher husband, Robert St. Jacques, works hard to support them, but the insurance is not good, and the bills are devastating for this careworn family. On Father's Day 2012, their car was totaled in an accident and her daughter was lifeflighted to a nearby hospital where she required reconstructive surgery. The difficulties are overwhelming.

The family is surviving on a too-tight budget while their mom fights for her life, and the kids fight for their precious mom. Currently there is a fundraiser going at http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/134027?a=759878 where numerous people have donated gifts to give for donations, and the family is praying for some relief.

"It is heartwarming to see people really step up when the going is tough" says Sarah's mom Corinne, "I know that people do want to help. Sometimes they just need to know how. We are so grateful for the efforts on Laura's behalf." She also went on to say how much young Sarah has learned about the power of people coming together to help someone in need.
