Parcel2Go issues courier reminder as retailers invest heavily in e-commerce

The UK's largest online parcel delivery service has reminded companies not to forget about the importance of finding a reliable delivery company when they are pursuing an online e-commerce strategy. In recent years there has been a major push by firms all over the world to take advantage of the digital revolution and increase sales via the internet. And now new technology has seen the focus shift to include mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones.
Earlier this month Debenhams announced its intention to offer customer access to WiFi across all its UK locations, in a bid to encourage people to browse in-store and order unavailable products for home delivery using their phones. The retailer has said it is effectively bringing its in-store and online channels together and expects other firms to follow.
Luxury fashion retailer Harvey Nichols is another major high street company that has publically backed a multi-channel approach. Last week the company showed its commitment to online shopping by launching a five-year e-commerce strategy.
Parcel2Go marketing director Richard Mercer said: "These are exciting times for retailers. The recession has taught companies the importance of having a multi-channel approach and retail industry research has shown that shoppers are becoming increasingly comfortable with purchasing goods through mobile devices.
"It is however vital that companies of all sizes recognise the expectations of customers purchasing online and understand the need for items to be dispatched quickly and arrive with consumers on time and in perfect condition. The established parcel couriers we work with have considerable experience of handling domestic and international postal service consignments and it's these experts that businesses should be looking to for help when they're expanding their e-commerce operations."
Parcel2Go's website brings together domestic and international delivery options from some of the world's biggest courier companies, including CityLink, Parcelforce, TNT and Yodel. Services such as parcel tracking and parcel volume calculators are available on the site to make it simpler than ever for businesses to get packages to clients quickly and cheaply.
