Sharecropper's Story, a new book by Charlie Davis, has been released by RoseDog Books.

This is a story based on true events surrounding the life and times of Elizabeth Jane Jones Davis, known to many as Madea.

This story tells of the struggles of the black man living on the countryside of southern Alabama during the 1950s and 1960s, refusing to depend solely on the privileges allowed by white landowners.

When the black man failed to meet the demands of some white men, the acts of slavery were re-ignited. This was something that some white men remembered, but the black man refused to return to slavery.

Sharecropper's Story is not only about sharing the crops and farming the white man's land on demand, it is also about sharing love and compassion with others. As Madea would say, "Jesus wants his people to share."

About the Author

Charlie Davis was born in Alabama on March 16, 1952. He is the second son born to Elizabeth Jane (Madea) Jones Davis and Jimmy Davis. He grew up on a sharecropper's farm and graduated from Georgia Washington High School, an all-black school located in Mount Meigs, Alabama.

Charlie is currently employed as a bus operator for the transit system and holds a second job as a police officer with Special Units. He has also owned a small, private, unarmed security guard company and is a leader of a community congregation.
