June 14, 2012 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
Harold, hero of "The Supermarket Guy," finds himself chief executive officer of a once-great supermarket chain facing potential bankruptcy in this new comedic novel. The main competition in its territory, JoAcadou Mart, is undercutting Bargain Way in hopes of forcing its hand in selling off stock to pay creditors. Demanding boardroom members, quarterly figures that don't add up and shoddy products on the grocery's shelves all add up to a giant headache for the new CEO."The Supermarket Guy II: Rise of the Market Overlord," told in the same humorous style as Doucet's first book, follows Harold's quest to come out on top and out from under the shadow of bankruptcy. He fires incompetent mangers, and his new management team begins to find out why the company has been losing money. Despite the changes, Harold doesn't realize a spy is feeding information to Jon Acadou and working on his behalf. Crazy motorcycle chases, spying on his competitor dressed as a woman, three-headed pigs and a bear hunt are just a small part of this hilarious romp with a would-be supermarket czar.
Author Daren Doucet, who lives in New Brunswick, Canada, grew up in a small town and was interested in sketching, inspired by Marvel and Archie comics. He illustrated the book's cover.
