Birds can damage your home. Birds may seem harmless and can be fun to watch, but in large numbers they can actually damage your home. For example, bird droppings can soil windows and eat away at paint.

Watch out for secondary infestations. When birds nest in or on your home, they often bring with them secondary pests such as carpet beetles (dermestidae) and bird mites, which can infest your home.

Bird nests are a fire hazard. When birds roost in attics and on top of light fixtures, their nests can pose a fire hazard. This is especially true for starlings, which can produce huge nests if allowed to nest in the same spot repeatedly.
