KASO Plastics Expands Rapid Prototyping Services to Include 3D Printing
May 11, 2012 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
Vancouver, WA, May 11, 2012: KASO Plastics, a full service thermoplastic injection molder, announces the companyhas expanded its rapid prototyping capabilities to include 3D printing of ABS prototype parts. With the help of a new 3D printer from Fortus 3D Production systems, KASO staff are better equipped to validate newproduct design concepts long before tool construction begins. These 3D prototypes can then identify any possibleflaws early on in the prototyping process, saving significant time and money for the custom injection molder's customers:
"Our priorities at KASO are focused on our ability to provide the highest level of quality during every step of the
development and manufacturing process," says KASO General Manager Darin King. "Our customers look to us to provide manufacturing excellence in all areas, from prototyping and design support to our value added secondary services. This is why we continue to invest in resources and equipment like 3D printing."
KASO will be able to use the printer to create ABS prototype parts nearly as strong as an injection molded part, in
some cases as much as 80% the strength of traditional plastic injection parts. The strength of these parts opens up the possibility for KASO to one day expand rapid prototyping (http://www.kaso.com/kaso-plastics-rapid-prototyping-services) of conceptual models and master patterns to include using the printer as a cost effective alternative for the occasional small run finished part.
The new 3D printing rounds out KASO's other mold design construction and injection molding services like gas assist injection molding (http://www.kaso.com/news/2012/april/following-path-least-resistance%E2%80%A6-story-gas-assist-molding),
insert over-mold and structural foam molding as well as traditional injection mold techniques.
