Avant-Garde Jewelry Co. Expands Women's Line of Titanium Jewelry, Economy Also Driving Interest in the Alternative Metal

Maineville, Ohio, May 4, 2012- Ohio-based Avant-Garde Jewelry, manufacturers of handcrafted titanium and tungsten jewelry, is now offering an expanded line of women's jewelry through its online retailer, Titaniumstyle.com. The move comes in response to a doubling in sales of women's titanium jewelry over the last five years due to its durability and in reaction to the higher prices of gold and platinum."I see about twice the amount of women's sizes, or smaller titanium rings for wedding bands and other jewelry items being sold now compared to five years ago," said Anton Polishuk, president of Avant-Garde Jewelry. "I would say sales have seen a steady 10 to 15 percent year-over-year increase since 2007 as more women consider titanium a solid choice over gold or platinum."
In addition, the economic downturn of the last five years has fueled interest in titanium among both women and men who are opting for titanium wedding bands, bracelets, necklaces and wedding rings over the higher-priced gold and silver. In response, Avant-Garde Jewelry, through its online retailer Titaniumstyle.com is now offering women a full line of titanium rings, necklaces and bracelets, while sales of its men's collection of wedding bands and other titanium jewelry items continue to see steady growth, Polishuk said.
"Titanium is known for being one of the strongest and most durable metals on the planet," said Polishuk. "The metal is very lightweight, hypoallergenic and, by comparison to gold or platinum, relatively inexpensive. As such, we have been seeing interest in our products grow among our male customers for some time. Now, we are seeing more and more women are recognizing the advantages of titanium and changing their attitudes toward it as a solid alternative to traditional jewelry choices."
One big myth about titanium, adds Polishuk, is that because titanium is so closely associated with industrialized products, that somehow it is not feminine or light enough.
"On the contrary," said Polishuk. "Because titanium is lightweight, durable and inexpensive, more and more women are willing to look at it as an alternative to gold for wedding bands and even platinum for engagement rings and other pieces. Traditionally titanium and tungsten was reserved for men's jewelry and it has become known for being sort of the rock-star's choice of metal. But now women are also getting increasingly interested, so we introduced our full line of titanium and tungsten rings, titanium necklaces and bracelets for women that are attracting a lot of attention."
