In Hoffman's debut novel, A Contented Mind: Love, hope and the complicated mess of redefining one's life, she encourages women to do what is right within themselves. When a troubled fan breaks in to Meg's secluded home, she packs up her violin and Irish setter, and leaves behind the only world she's ever known. She soon discovers what's waiting for her on the West Coast is more than just a beautiful scenery. While playing violin for a world renowned rock band on a European tour, Meg forces herself to fall out of love with the band's drummer, Jadon Hastings. But sometimes it takes falling in love, to force us to love ourselves. In the process Meg realizes Jadon's look of loathing isn't loathing after all. With love finally within her grasp, her world is turned on end by a most unlikely source. To have the life she's always wanted, Meg has to rip apart the lies used to reshape her world. In the end Meg learns - those you trust - can't always be trusted. And the only hands that should shape her world need to be that of her own.
In an inspiring story for those approaching a certain age, A Contented Mind reminds us of our own personal strength.
"When women reach a certain age," says Samantha Hoffman, "the struggle begins. They begin looking in the mirror with scrutiny, begin tucking nervously on their clothes and question their ability to follow their dreams."
Samantha Hoffman has written numerous columns on health and spirituality for a local paper. A Contented Mind is her first novel. She has completed its sequel and is hard at work on her next novel. Samantha has also written Dainty Delaney and the Carnival Shoes, book one in the Dainty Delaney children's chapter book series. She currently lives in Northern Michigan with her two children and faithful boxer named, Grace.
