The all new two-seater sports car has been revealed by Jaguar. The F-type vehicle, which will go on sale next year, has just been announced at the New York Auto Show. The design will be based on the C-X16 prototype which was exposed in September last year and the launch has come as a direct result of positive customer feedback from it. The brand's global director, Adrian Hallmark, said the aim of the latest model was to make Jaguar a world-leader in a market that it has been absent in for too long. The iconic E-type was last made in 1975.
F-type will be unveiled in the summer of 2013 and initially it will be a convertible that the engineering development has focused on delivering dynamic driver reward. Built extensively with aluminium, power will come from a range of petrol engines including a new family of powerplants; and it is rumoured to include a supercharged V6 petrol engine with up to 400bhp.
Built at Jaguar's Castle Bromwich factory, in Birmingham, it is reported that a coupe version will follow in the year 2014.
The new sports car is part of a £5billion investment plan by the firm who announced in 2011 that 40 significant new products will be launched over a five year course. One of these is plans to build a £700,000 petrol-electric hybrid supercar in partnership with Williams F1 in the UK.
