Costa Rica's First Microbrewery & Hotel Opens Doors and Drops Jaws at beautiful Arenal Lake
March 01, 2012 (PRLEAP.COM) Travel News
The first and only Microbrewery ~ Hotel in Costa Rica has officially opened its doors and tapped its kegs on the shores of Arenal Lake. We go by the name of Volcano Brewing Company. Our name is a tribute to our location amongst Central America's great volcanoes; namely the Tenorio, Miravalles and iconic Arenal. They serve as the majestic backdrop to which we brew & serve our signature Witch's Rock Pale Ale. Our restaurant and bar features food from our on site eco-farm, as well as all of Costa Rica's microbrews cold and on tap!
"It really is a whole different world from the beach, and a part of Costa Rica everyone should experience, " said Joe Walsh, Volcano Brewing Company's founder.
Joe and Holly Walsh traveled from San Diego via school bus to the the shores of Tamarindo over a decade ago. They started the world renowned Witch's Rock Surf Camp and have been there ever since, teaching surf lessons and sharing smiles. For years they've wanted to create a beer that captures the essence of Pura Vida. This made the decision to take on Volcano Brewing Company and offer it as a complimentary experience to the surf camp a no-brainer.
"In early 2011 we recognized a new chance to not just get into the beer business, but to do it in a spectacular location, in a more unique and complete way, with a Microbrewery ~ Hotel," said Yana Farrally-Plourde, Chief Operating Officer. "Costa Rica is blessed with an over-abundance of great things, but microbrewed beer wasn't one of them, until now."
If you're looking for a little getaway, or if you're in Costa Rica on vacation and you want to check out the Arenal area, we highly suggest checking our Volcano Brewing Company. Stay in a cozy hotel with a great view of the lake, eat from a delicious farm-to-table menu, and drink some fine beer in one of the most spectacular places in the world.
Pura Vida!
