Organisers Dubai World Trade Centre announced that the Middle East’s largest and fastest growing watch and jewellery show will take place at the recently renovated and expanded Airport Expo from December 5th to 9th for its 2005 presentation. The move to Airport Expo’s new halls will accommodate the increased exhibition space demand from local and international jewellery industry as well as the growing profile of the event that will include both the watch and jewellery trade.
The show now renamed Watch & Jewellery Dubai (WJD) adds a new dimension and extends the profile of the former International Jewellery Dubai (IJD) to include the growing watch sector.
“WJD characterises the natural growth and progression of the jewellery trade in the region and further enhances the product offerings,” said DWTC Director General, Helal Saeed Khalfan Al Marri. “The show will now enable both jewellery and watch manufacturers and distributors to target the exhibition’s trade buyers and high net worth individuals from the Middle East region from a single platform.”
The move forms part of the strategic plan by organisers DWTC to reinforce Watch & Jewellery Dubai as one of the prime exhibitions in the international exhibitions calendar.
The Middle East is a region where luxury watch brands generate almost ten per cent of their entire global sales. The UAE has consistently ranked among the top 15 importers of prestige watches in the last few years and in 2004 the country was ranked at number 11.
Watch & Jewellery Dubai 2005 will keep its twin focus as a business-to-business platform while simultaneously targeting consumers with high spending power. The exhibition will serve as a sought-after networking and sales platform for global manufacturers and regional buyers from the Gulf, North Africa, India and beyond.
The show is expected to build on last year’s unprecedented growth. The event registered a 102 per cent increase in exhibitors to a total of 454, as well as a 20 per cent increase in visitors in 2004.
On show at the five-day event will be exquisite jewellery and watch items reflecting the latest trends in the industry and exhibits include cut and uncut gemstones, gold, platinum and silver jewellery, gem-set, precious and semi-precious jewellery, precious stones, semi-precious stones, bullion, antique jewellery, branded costume jewellery, branded watches and clocks, silverware, part-finished jewellery, packaging and display materials and manufacturing tools and machinery.
