West Palm Beach, Fla. – December 20, 2011 — SLPowers, a regional technology firm headquartered in West Palm Beach, recently hosted its 4th Annual Margarita Ball of the Palm Beaches at the Flamingo Building in downtown West Palm Beach. The charitable gala is designed to collect toys for needy children in the area, with two unwrapped toys the standard price of admission per person. The event has grown each year, and the 2011 gala broke all previous records."Our new official date, the Friday before Thanksgiving, seems to have been perfect timing, with record attendance," said Rory Sanchez, president of SLPowers. "The Margarita Ball has clearly become the definitive kickoff party for the holidays, and enables our area children to enjoy a richer holiday season."
The Margarita Ball, a concept which may have been borrowed from the Fort Worth Margarita Society, includes a lively party in an exciting local venue with great food, cocktails and other beverages, and live dance tunes supplied by local musicians. Since its inception four years ago, the Margarita Ball has collected several thousand toys for charity. To manage toy distribution, SLPowers partners with Debbie Katz of Community Friends.
"None of this would be possible without our valued sponsors," said Bob Hochmuth, vice president of SLPowers. "We were proud to have vital support from Dell, HP, CloudJacket Cybersecurity, WatchGuard Technologies, Eaton Technologies and Tito's Vodka."
This year's Margarita Ball was held at a private art gallery in the warehouse district. Food was catered by a trendy gourmet food truck, and the signature bottomless Margarita fountain flowed throughout the evening. Junior Drinkwater and the Westside Blues Band were joined later in the evening by guitarist Joe Tenuto and his son Joey.
"It's my job to attend parties," said one local publicist, "and this is one of the best parties I've ever been to."
Past Margarita Balls have been held at Rag Tops, The Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens, and a popular Clematis Street bar.
