Wake County Progressive Democrats To Host Special Screening Of The Film "Good Night, And Good Luck”

The Wake County Progressive Democrats proudly invite the public to a special screening of “Good Night, and Good Luck” to be held in the Rialto Theater on Saturday, November 5th at 11:30am. The film dramatically relives Edward R. Murrow's legendary televised confrontations with Senator Joseph McCarthy and the opposition he and his colleagues faced along the way. Immediately preceeding the film, Bob Geary of Independent Weekly will reflect on the film and freedom of the press. The cost of admission will be $10 with proceeds to support progressive candidates and causes that affect Wake County.

The Wake County Progressive Democrats believe in the absolute necessity for an uncensored and accountable press. We feel that, especially since September 11th, our nation’s mainstream press has suffered from internal censorship by their corporate owners, a lack of courage, or both. As part of our goal to promote progressive ideas, we believe that this film will remind our fellow citizens of this nation’s history with political censorship and the importance of speaking truth to power.
