Des Moines, IA Author Publishes New Book

The Miracle of the City of Ordinary, a new book by Bill Wadle, has been released by RoseDog Books.

Author Bill Wadle, the last of 12 children, was born on a farm in Marion County, Iowa in the early stages of the Great Depression. At age 5 he attended a one-room school – as part of the last generation to wear knickers and ride to school via horse and buggy. From an early age, his love was singing. His second love – writing – developed while in Melcher High School, where he graduated in 1949.

The Author spent 3 years, 1951-1954, in the United States Marine Corps, 20 years with the US Postal Service, 20 years as a Field Coordinator in The John Birch Society and 15 years at Seneca Tank before retiring at nearly 79 years.

His wife, formerly Joanne Caffrey, 2nd youngest of 10 children, attended Knoxville, IA High School, graduating from East High in Des Moines, IA in 1951.

Over the years they teamed together to write, produce, direct and perform in several local musical productions. Bill also wrote for the local Letter Carrier's Newspaper and contributed articles to the National Letter Carrier's Magazine

Now retired and still living in the same 2 bedroom bungalow, they have inhabited for over 50 years, Bill and his wife enjoy the theatre, playing slots, dancing and partying (The latter two in a somewhat subdued manner). They have 2 daughters, Deborah and Lori, 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and are waiting for more.
