DELAND, Florida – The National Alert Registry today announced it is offering its “Predator Report” service for half price until Halloween, to help parents and other concerned adults protect their children by knowing the locations of registered sex offenders in their neighborhoods. The Predator Reports, available at http://www.registeredoffenderslist.org/halloween.htm, provide concerned individuals with names, photos, appearance details, aliases, conviction information, offense dates, detailed maps and the street addresses of registered sex offenders who live in the subscriber’s immediate area. A complete report of sexual offenders within a three-mile radius of a resident’s home can be purchased, before November 1, for $5.
“It’s vitally important that parents are informed about who lives in their neighborhood as their children go door-to-door on Halloween,” said Scott Adams, director of the National Alert Registry. “Being cautious on Halloween is an important step towards keeping children safe, but we need to be cautious everyday.”
For the first time, this year the state of New Jersey has placed a curfew on sex offenders supervised under Megan’s Law. On Halloween night, offenders will be confined to their homes after 7 p.m. and have been ordered not to answer the door to trick-or-treaters.
“We congratulate the state of New Jersey for being proactive in protecting children from sex offenders and imposing a curfew on those who may pose a threat to children enjoying Halloween activities,” Adams said. “But, even so, parents must be cautious and vigilant. It will help keep their children safe. Our children are relying on us to make sure they are protected, and to do that we need to have correct information about who our children are dealing with in our neighborhoods and in other everyday situations.”
To ensure parents and concerned individuals are provided with the most accurate information possible, the Predator Report database (with listings of registered sex offenders in every state) is updated at least once a month. Information obtained from RegisteredOffendersList.org should not be used to harass, threaten or intimidate sex offenders or their families, and the misuse of this information can result in criminal prosecution or civil liability.
Parents and other responsible adults can run a free ZIP code-targeted search for the number of registered sexual offenders in their neighborhood by visiting http://www.registeredoffenderslist.org/halloween.htm. The complete Predator Report, which normally costs $10, can also be purchased at the Web site for $5 until November 1.
