The Royal Parks Foundation is the charity which helps keep London's eight Royal Parks looking their best all year round. The parks are a vital part of London life, providing green spaces for people to relax and enjoy a scenic stroll through the heart of one of the best cities in the world.

On October 9th, the charity opens four of these parks to competitors for the annual Royal Parks Half Marathon. The 13-mile run will take runners around Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, Green Park and St James's Park, and will whizz past many iconic London landmarks along the way, including Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Marble Arch and the Royal Albert Hall.

As with most running events of this nature, entrants are expected to raise a good deal of cash for charity, while there are also opportunities to use the event as a corporate team building exercise.

The run has been shortlisted for the Best Outdoor Event honour at the Outdoor Event Awards. The ceremony takes place on September 20th, so by the time you read this, they may have won it.
