"Maria" is the story of a young girl enchanted by the sea.

Maria lives with her grandmother and spends all her free time at the beach, daydreaming about the mysteries in the depths of the ocean and longing to explore it herself. One night, while perched on a rock overlooking the water, some other girls from the village mean-spiritedly push Maria in. She grabs at them as she falls, bringing them into the sea with her. There, the girls get caught up in a magical underwater adventure as they encounter mermaids, fairies, and other creatures.

Dealing with mistaken identity, romance, revenge, and intrigue, Maria discovers a deep-sea world that is more amazing than she ever imagined.
