Auto Repair Shops Must Capitalize on Summer Travel Business

GREEN, OH — Auto dealers and auto repair shops should be looking for every way possible to attract new customers and retain old ones with the summer driving season in full swing.

"Summer is a great time to drum up new business – and to bring existing customers back," said Paul Brown, president of Ohio-based AutoShop Express. "Anyone who's driving anywhere, even for a weekend get-away, needs to make sure their car is in good enough shape to travel."

A great way to get drivers in the door is the use of attention-grabbers like swooper flags, Brown said.

Standing a full 15-feet tall, swooper flags are available in a wide variety of colors and designs, ranging from checkerboards to messages like "Sale" or "Welcome" to manufacturer logos and trademarks (available to authorized dealers only).

Of course, getting new business is one thing, and retaining that business is another thing.

Brown recommended playing directly to the hectic, cell phone-driven lives that so many people lead. "With people spending so much time in their cars, what better way to remind drivers to service their cars than with a sticker right on the windshield?

"A service reminder sticker with your shop's name and phone number on it is a simple, effective method of encouraging repeat business," Brown said.

The ASE logo also can be added to stickers for shops that offer certified personnel.

AutoShop Express distributes a full line of auto dealer supplies, including Versa key tags, pennant strings and Slip n Grip premium slip covers. It also offers sales aids, including swooper flag kits and pennant strings.
