Industry Associations Reaffirm Commitment To GITEX India As GOAP & DWTC Begin Sales Push

The Government of Andhra Pradesh’s (GOAP’s) Information Technology & Communications Department and organisers Dubai World Trade Centre announced the launch of their corporate sales campaign with the re-branding of GITEX Hyderabad to GITEX India and the official launch of the corporate sales brochure at the AP Secretariat today (October 24th)Speaking to reporters at the venue, Chief Minister Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy announced that major industry associations including the Hyderabad Software Exporters Association (HYSEA), NASSCOM, ELIAP, FAPCCI, CII, TiE, cowe, Semiconductor Association, VizagIT Association and Indo-American Chambers have all pledged their support to make the fifth edition of GITEX India to be held in January 2006 (11th to 13th) a unique Trade expo with Maximum ROI for exhibitors.
“At a recently convened meeting with leading industry associations, we sought their cooperation and they have all reaffirmed their support to GITEX India and we are expecting a double-digit growth (between 12 to 15%) in the show,” the Honourable CM remarked.
Earlier Mrs. K. Ratna Prabha (IAS), Secretary to the GOAP IT&C Department, gave a presentation highlighting the growth of GITEX over the last four years: “We are set for the fifth edition of the event that has outgrown its role as a regional exhibition. The show covers a much greater expanse and attracts exhibitors from around the country as well as international exhibitors so it was decided to rename and re-brand the exhibition to GITEX India in light of its increasing size, scale and geographic extent.”
Last year’s event drew in exhibitors and delegations from Canada, China, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Oman, Pennsylvania (USA), South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand and the UAE.
DWTC General Manager, Christina Nicholson announced the names of three companies that have already confirmed their presence at GITEX India 2006. “I am pleased to confirm that three new international exhibitors including Ceemax Technologies from Malaysia, M.A. Labs from USA and Eurostar from the UAE have confirmed their participation at GITEX India.”
“Moreover we have received several genuine inquiries at the recently concluded GITEX in Dubai and GITEX India has established itself as a show that delivers measurable results while offering exhibitors a solid platform to conduct business transactions and showcase their tech innovations,” Ms. Nicholson observed.
Parallel Conferences are being organised by Industry associations that will focus on Human capital in the IT Industry, Hyderabad as a Knowledge Process off shoring destination, and a Low-cost manufacturing base in Asia Pacific. NASSCOM is organising a conference on Animation Industry. Hyderabad Software Exporters Association is conducting a workshop on Technology and HR while CII is hosting a Seminar on ITES & Electronic Hardware and TiE on AP as an Investment Destination.
The Indian IT market is estimated at US$ 25 billion and continues to grow at the rate of 21% annually. India offers a vast potential that is expected to cross AED 239 billion (US$ 65 billion) by 2009 according to IDC figures.
IT majors such as Microsoft, Satyam, BenQ, Siemens, Acer, Brother, Visual Soft, Sierra Atlantic, Dubai Internet City, Olympus, ADP Wilco, Rittal, Remittag, Infotech, Zoom Technologies and RAM have participated at GITEX Hyderabad last year.
Along with the main event, Shopper India, the retail arm of GITEX India, will be held simultaneously in a dedicated hall at the HITEX International Exhibition Centre. GITEX India Shopper will also host leading local and regional vendors offering some of the best deals on computer hardware, software, peripherals, multimedia and a wide range of computer products and services.
In 2005, GITEX Shopper Hyderabad generated retail sales of more than AED 2.6 million (INR 30 million).
Last year, the event registered a growth of 26% (7,938) in trade visitors while general public registrations crossed the 17,250 mark.
