October 19, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
Kaunas, Lithuania – October 20, 2005 – WILIBOX, embedded Linux and IEEE 802.11 specialists released innovative embedded Linux software platform – WILI including industry’s first 802.11 stack supporting multiple BSSID (Virtual AP) and multiple client mode (Virtual STA) connections on the same radio interface simultaneously. WILI provides functionality and flexible management options for large scale Enterprise, ISP and Wireless Public Access networks. Platform is targeting WISPs, telecom operators and OEM, ODM manufacturers. WILI is targeted to operate on widely available, mass produced standard hardware platforms for 802.11 access points and routers.
WILI is well suited for creation of HotSpot access points, access controllers, enterprise access points, fixed 802.11 a/b/g wireless network elements, base stations, customer premise equipment (CPE) and high performance secure point-to-point or point-to-multipoint wireless bridges.
Beside standard functionality covering latest Wi-Fi Alliance and IEEE 802.11 features, WPA, WPA2 with pre-shared and dynamic key handling WILI is providing comprehensive networking functionality including IPSec with hardware acceleration, VLAN, Virtual AP (MBSSID) accompanied with multiple Virtual STA, secure WDS with WPA2 pre-shared and dynamic key modes. WILI is carrying powerful Access Controller functionality allowing multiple operator support on a single network infrastructure. Platform is implemented according to WISPr recommendations and features multiple RADIUS clients, per Virtual AP security, DHCP, DNS, routing, bridging and access control settings. Virtual APs can be open or secured with WEP or WPA/WPA2 and provide WEB login (UAM) for hotspot and guest access.
In addition to industry standard SNMP version 1/2/3, WEB-based and Command Line (CLI) management interfaces, WILI implements its own configuration management subsystem. The subsystem consists of a text based configuration file and RCMS (Remote Configuration Management System) agent communicating with remote RCMS server over a secured HTTPS channel. This creates a structure for fast wireless network deployment and robust administration in large scale wireless network deployments.
