NEW YORK, NY (January 28, 2011) - FIMA 2011, a data management conference for capital markets, interviewed an executive from GE Asset Management, who stressed that the future role of data governance executives is changing rapidly. According to an interview with Tom Llaneza, VP, Data Governance Operations & Programs, for the last five to ten years, data governance has been operating in a silo in most organizations. But in recent years, these silos have broken down and data governance now has a seat at the table of more companies than ever before. Tom believes in a two-pronged approach that businesses should take in order to get a handle on their own data management visions. In the coming years, the key to success for reference data managers will be "the willingness to hold ourselves accountable," says Llaneza.

Tom will speak at FIMA 2011, which takes place March 21 to 23, 2011 at the Bridgewaters venue at the South Street Seaport in Manhattan. FIMA is the annual meeting place for data management executives to discuss the most innovative strategies for managing reference data today.

This interactive day provides attendees with the opportunity to brainstorm and chat "off the record" with their peers. Discussions will include: How to establish an effective data quality program? How to measure data quality? And how can your data quality program reduce risk across your organization?
