October 13, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
Manhattan, New York - October 13, 2005 - The Lion Brand Yarn Company (http://www.lionbrand.com) listed 27 charity, poncho auctions on eBay this week. Each of the auctions feature a one-of-a-kind, hand-made,poncho that was worn by a member of the studio audience at the September 13th, 2005 taping of the new "Martha" TV show in New York. Winning bidders will receive a poncho, an 8" x 10" photo of the Lion Brand staff wearing the ponchos on the set of the Martha show taping and a letter from Lion Brand certifying that the poncho was worn at the September 13th 2005 taping of "Martha" in Manhattan.
The ponchos were all custom crocheted by designers for Lion Brand with Lion Brand yarns and are offered in a wide variety of colors and styles of yarn. Most of the ponchos listed in the auctions were made using the famous "Coming Home" pattern which is based on the poncho that Martha Stewarts wore after her release from federal prison in March of 2005. The pattern has been downloaded from the Lion Brand Web site by knitting and crochet enthusiasts over 1,000,000 times since it was first released to the public in March of 2005.
"This is a unique opportunity for people to purchase a bit of TV history." said Ilana Rabinowitz, director of consumer marketing for Lion Brand Yarn. "Not only will they get an extremely interesting and comfortable collectible item, but their winning bid will go towards a great cause."
All winning bids from the sale of the ponchos will be donated to AmeriCares. All of the auctions are starting at a minimum bid of just $0.01 and there are no reserve prices set on any of the auctions. All of the auctions can be viewed online at: http://www.lionbrand.com/Newsletters/ponchoSale.html
