New Dog Book Is Quite A Yarn Peggy Gaffney’s The Crafty Samoyed – Knits is a dog book that’s different.

The Crafty Samoyed – Knits, describes in stories and photos activities enjoyed by dogs and their owners today. The author then uses her creative ability to illustrate those events as charted intarsia knitting patterns. The designs portray Samoyeds in breed, obedience, agility, herding, sledding and more. Included are directions for many sweaters and accessories on which knitters work these designs. She even provides practical advice on using dog hair in the knitting. Gaffney claims readers “don’t even need to know how to knit” to use the over 25 different patterns in the book, since directions are given for working the designs onto readymade sweaters.

Peggy Gaffney’s 36 years breeding Samoyed show dogs provided experience for her couture design business, creating custom knit sweaters for exhibitors. She brought her unique fashions to the dog show ring. Her skill in capturing the precise image of the dog and translating it into attractive knitting designs won much acclaim including invitations to exhibit her work at the AKC National Championship. Kanine Knits announces that other books in The Crafty Dog Series will follow every few months with Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, Boxers, Newfoundlands, Corgis, Shelties, Bichon, and German Shepherds in the writing stage and more books planned.
