Well-prepared for the winter: The 'Europa-Sportregion' turns the cold season into a white holiday event
October 09, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Travel News
When the first snow flakes start to fall, a colourful variety of opportunities lure young and old out into the snow. As early as autumn those who are hungry for snow are tempted to go to the glacier plateau of 'Kitzsteinhorn' at a height of 2,900 metres. Here is the first place to enjoy the new winter season - ideal for all those who cannot wait to do plenty of swings on their skis again. And 900 metres further down, the top of 'Schmittenhöhe' also has its appeal: from the beginner to the experienced skier, these pistes offer unforgettably nice runs for any type of skier. 56 lifts and cable cars then take the skiers, boarders, and carvers back up to the top again. In all, the 'Europa-Sportregion' has more than 130 kilometres of pistes, perfectly prepared and an absolute must for all fans of plenty of powder snow. And off the pistes, there is also a lot to discover: snow shoe hikes or carriage rides through the untouched landscape are among the romantic alternatives. Skating at the indoor ice rink in Zell and speeding down one of the toboggan runs are a bit more on the racy side. The latter are well-lighted until late at night - sheer fun for all the family.
Even when a day full of events finally nears its end, it is not really over in the 'Europa-Sportregion': there is still a lot to experience for all, whether they are looking for an awesome party or pure relaxation. Whichever you opt for: you can enjoy the typically Austrian hospitality in all the bars, discos, restaurants, and mountain inns of the region.
This winter, the shortest route to sheer winter fun is once again by the attractive package deals that the 'Europa-Sportregion' has put together for its guests. The 'Glacier Snow Okay' package takes you to the pistes from Mid-October to the end of November. The 'Snow Okay' package is meant for all those who would like to enjoy the winter season to the full: until April 2006 it offers fast trips to Zell am See und Kaprun at a favourable price. And for all stragglers the 'Europa-Sportregion' has prepared the 'Snow Okay Sunny Spring Skiing' package which enables them to enjoy some powder snow even as late as in May.
