Optellios Poised for Growth under New CEO

Newtown, PA (December 2, 2010) – Optellios, Inc., a developer and manufacturer of advanced fiber-optic security systems, has announced the appointment of David Smith as the company's new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. According to the company's Board of Directors, the change of leadership reflects a shift of the organization's corporate goals toward expanding its market share through strategic partnerships and sales channel development. Mr. Smith brings over 20 years of experience in leading successful business development efforts in defense technology, electronics, and communications industries.

An engineer by training and a former U.S. Navy pilot, Mr. Smith launched his management career as a Senior Program Manager at General Electric. Subsequently, Mr. Smith held senior executive positions with several organizations, building a track record of large-scale innovation and consistent revenue growth. His most recent appointment prior to joining Optellios was as the Senior Vice-President and General Manager in charge of the Defense and Space Division of EMS Technologies, where he grew divisional revenues by 120%, from $45M to $100M, over his 3-year tenure.
