London Nights have today released a guide to the best post-Christmas sales in London, including tips for shopping on a shoestring budget in London.Following the announcement of the toughest budget to face the UK in years, belts are set to be tightened even further. If the harsh budget cuts weren't enough, the impending rise of VAT in January means shoppers must be extra savvy to avoid losing out – plan what you need for 2011 and buy it before VAT soars to 20%.
A good way to shop savvy is to make the most of the post-Christmas sales by venturing on a shopping break. London is a mecca for shoppers, especially during the Boxing Day and January sales. You shouldn't attempt the sales blindfolded however, you need to plan your trip. You need to source out the best sales and decide which are best for you to avoid the hordes of queues and ensure you don't lose out on that all important item to another keen shopper!
The Boxing Day sales are probably the most popular of the year, with it not uncommon to see eager bargain hunters camping outside major retailers in the cold overnight. All sound a tad extreme? If so, you can still make the most of the sales and stay warm - simply book a hotel close to your favourite shops in Knightsbridge, Kensington or near Oxford Street so you can join the queues refreshed and ready to shop after a good night's sleep. Better yet why not book a serviced apartment – think of all that extra space to store your shopping bags! Then, after you have shopped till you've dropped, you can head back to relieve your tired arms of all your bags and recuperate, rather than having to make the journey home straight away.
