Women’s Event 8, benefiting the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center, is an opportunity to recognize trailblazers for the lesbian community. The evening of cocktails, dinner, a luxury auction, dancing, a raffle, and awards presentation will kick off at 7pm on Saturday, October 29, at Chelsea Piers/Pier Sixty in New York City. This year we are pleased to pay tribute to four remarkable honorees who have served as agents of change for women:
Judy Dlugacz, president and founder of Olivia Cruises and Resorts, and one of the most successful lesbian entrepreneurs in the business world.
Lady Knights—Queens College Women’s Basketball Team of 1972-1973, the first women’s team to be inducted into the NYC Basketball Hall of Fame.
Nancy R. Sweetser, founder of the Miracle House, which provide affordable housing and services to out-of-town families whose loved ones are dealing with serious illnesses such as AIDS or cancer.
Janet Weinberg, former Center Director of Development and Board Co-Chair, who has been an instrumental player in New York fundraising and a strong advocate for disability access in our community.
Women’s Event attendees will enjoy beautiful views of the Statue of Liberty and Hudson River through Pier Sixty’s floor-to-ceiling windows, and savor the culinary creations of renowned caterer Abigail Kirsch. Suzanne Westenhoefer will serve as emcee.
