OSBORNE, KS — Fresh off its receipt of the Kansas Governor's 2010 Exporter of the Year award, custom RIM molder Osborne Industries Inc. is looking forward to hosting Kansas Governor Mark Parkinson when he visits Osborne later this month."We were so pleased to be recognized as the Kansas Exporter of the Year," company President Steve Langley said. "The governor's visit on September 24 caps what has been an extraordinary period for our company."
Osborne was named Exporter of the Year based on a number of criteria, including its:
- Employment increases due to global activities
- Marketing innovations on a global scale
- International introduction of new product lines
- Fostering of a network of global distributors and offices
"I was honored to name Osborne Industries the winner of the 2010 Governor's Exporter of the Year Award as recognition for their commitment to Kansas and their efforts to help grow our state economy," said Governor Parkinson.
Founded in 1973, the employee-owned company began exporting equipment in 1979; its reach now extends to 39 countries. The reaction injection molding company's exports have grown 73 percent since 2006 and account for 24 percent of Osborne's sales.
Although it now operates globally, the RIM molder was founded with a very local focus. In the early 1970s, a group of Osborne businessmen sought to preserve their small community, which had a predominantly agricultural base, by creating a stable manufacturing environment. Osborne Industries, the result of that effort, now employs 90 area residents.
"Our 90 employee-owners are truly the ones who deserve the recognition and praise for this award and for our company's strong performance," Langley said. "Their commitment made the difference."
