Shredding Alliance Continues Staggering Growth

IPSA, a one-year-old document destruction alliance, continues to achieve historical growth. Already the second largest American affiliation of paper shredding service providers, IPSA, or Information Protection Solutions of America, is experiencing promising success after just over a year in the market. In July 2005, IPSA was already servicing over 3,000 individual customer locations throughout the United States. In August, the number topped 5,000.
“We’re very excited about this [growth],” Tom Thompson, IPSA founder, said. “Selling our service has never been difficult because we’re selling a level [of service] that didn’t exist. Our focus has been setting up an infrastructure that will withstand such growth and not deteriorate the highest possible quality of service.”
IPSA is composed of locally owned document shredding companies across the country. Each company performs local services distinct from IPSA, but services national customers under the IPSA service model, which forces all members to maintain the highest certification rating from the National Association for Information Destruction (NAID).
“It’s the epitome of a win-win scenario for our industry,” said Ken Williams, IPSA CEO. “Our members win because they can service large customers they otherwise couldn’t. The client wins because they get the best possible service at all their locations.”
The number of member locations is currently 79, many of which service large geographic areas.
“There’s no where on a US map you can put your finger and we can’t figure out how to service,” said Williams, noting that certain parts of Alaska and Hawaii are the exception.
“We only take the best companies in the area capable of servicing under IPSA standards. It’s not hard to form a network. But we’re only out for the best,” added Thompson.
