New Exhibition at the Elgiz Museum

The Elgiz Museum is pleased to announce an exhibition displaying works recently acquired by the Elgiz Collection. Jonathan Messe’s ‘large scale abstract work ‘The Yellow Baron, Gilbert & George’s mixed media piece ‘Twenty Three Haunts’, Jan Fabre’s beetle sculpture ‘Mur de la Montée des Anges’, Friederike Feldmann’s Ten Years after No10, an impersonation of a Persian rug using dyed acrylic, Tim White-Sobieski’s serene video work ‘New York Suite’, and Abdurrahman’s Öztoprak’s, ‘Respect to Beethoven’ a mixed technique meditation on geometry and light; have all joined the Elgiz Collection and have been on display in the museum since the 15th September.

From the 15th Sep - 5th Nov, the museum will be showing ‘I shot Andy Warhol in Istanbul’ a video instillation by, Kezban Arca Batibeki in Artvarium, the temporary project space for guest artists. Representing the iconic Andy Warhol in the foreground and set against the backdrop of the historic peninsula of Istanbul, the artist examines through video and recorded sound, characteristic themes of urban living, pop culture and the evolving social status of the Turkish woman.
