Auditions to find Australia’s most talented performing Children

The Australian College of Entertainment (ACE) is auditioning for an elite group of children aged
5 to 11 years to be the first generation of talented children to study at the Australian College of Entertainment’s Performing Arts Primary School, which is being launched in 2006.

The school’s foundational strategy is to foster high academic achievement with a focus on developing and promoting the creative and performing arts talents of the students.

All students who wish to study at the school - must audition and only the best will receive an invitation to enrol. The school will be offering selected students scholarships sponsored by business groups that will be awarded on performing arts potential in singing, dancing, acting and music. The scholarships will cover the cost of both academic and performing arts education

At this stage, there will be 20 places in Kindergarten and 25 places in each of years 1 to 6 in the 2006 intake. This initial group of students will not only be the first group of students to be chosen, they will form the talent nucleus of the Australian College of Entertainment’s Performing Arts Primary and High Schools when it moves into its new purpose built campus at Rouse Hill. Until then, classes will be held in the former Castle Hill Primary School on Showground Road.

Mr Stapleton, the creative and business brain behind the new initiative said. “Many fine professionals have trained at the College and now have careers in the industry both in Australia and internationally and are achieving significant successes in various areas of performance including singing, dancing, acting, musical theatre, Film, TV and the music recording industry. Students have also gone on to work behind the scenes in diverse areas of the industry in management and technical production.”

Mr Stapleton rolled off a list that was close to a ‘who’s who’ of the industry today with names like Delta Goodrem, Natalie Imbruglia, Rebecca Cartwright, Kathleen De Leon (Hi5), Rachael Carpani (McLeod’s Daughters), Adam Saunders (Blue Water High), Chloe Zuel (Australian Idol), David Cutler (Lion King), Daniel Bustamante (Lion King – Young Simba), Phillip Filo (Grease & Tim Rice Spectacular), Sarah Blasko (nominated for 4 Aria Awards) and the list goes on……..

The Australian College of Entertainment was founded in 1989 as a not-for-profit, charitable organisation to promote education in the Media, Entertainment and the arts. The vision is to grow the college to become the media, entertainment and arts equivalent of the Australian Institute of Sport.

Mr Stapleton went on to say that this next stage in the growth of the Australian College of Entertainment, in launching a selective entertainment focused school, would impact the future face of entertainment in Australia. Further, the development of the “first of its kind” Creative Industries College Town facility at Rouse Hill would be a significant milestone in the modern history of the Media, Entertainment and Performing Arts Industry in Australia.

Competition will be intense for the limited places at this prestigious Performing Arts School so it is important that application forms to audition for entry and scholarships are sent in as soon as possible.
