LATHRUP VILLAGE, Mich. – Aug. 18, 2010 – Michigan First Credit Union (www.MichiganFirst.com) has been named one of "Metropolitan Detroit's 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For" by the Michigan Business and Professional Association (MBPA) for the third year in a row. The credit union's continued commitment to its team members (employees) through implementing the highest quality human resource initiatives and its dedication to the community contributed to this year's honor. "The selection, recognition and awarding of this year's 101 companies allows our organization to showcase their best practices," said Jennifer Kluge, MBPA executive vice president and chief operating officer." The honorees have clearly demonstrated why each of them would be an ideal place for employees to work. Companies that capitalize on their greatest resource-their employees-know how to attract and retain top talent."
The 101 Best & Brightest Companies to Work For awards recognize companies that implement innovative strategies and represent best practices in human resources. An independent research firm evaluates each company's entry based on key measures in various categories including communication, community initiatives, compensation and benefits, diversity and multiculturalism, employee education and development, employee engagement and commitment, recognition and retention, recruitment and selection, small business and work-life balance.
"At Michigan First, we have a strong commitment to our team members, as they are our most valuable asset," said Monica Horger, vice president of human resources for Michigan First Credit Union. "We believe that if we treat our team members well, they will in turn provide great service to our members and maintain a high level of excellence."
Michigan First team members receive unique educational opportunities, including extensive team member training, tuition reimbursement, reimbursement for professional development courses and team-building days. Team success is also celebrated with monthly reward programs, with incentives including cash bonuses, gift cards and tickets to local sporting and concert events, for team members who achieve specific milestones.
Michigan First and the other winners will be honored on Wednesday September 22 at the Marriott Dearborn Inn. The winning 101 companies also vie for 10 elite awards, one granted for each category. An overall winner, which has excelled in all categories, will be honored with the "Best of the Best" award. The award winners will be announced during the luncheon.
