Hotels-Paris.co.uk - Antoine Watteau and the Art of Engraving on display in Paris

Head to Paris' prestigious Le Louvre to discover the talent showcased in Antoine Watteau and the Art of Engraving, which is available to view until October 11th.

The venue is not far from where most hotel Paris guests will be staying, so transport should not be an issue and when they get there, travellers will be treated to a masterful display of engravings by the celebrated artist.

It has been curated by Marie-Catherine Sahut and features about 100 plates that the artist decorated with his engravings.

The venue noted that Watteau was one of the main instigators of the 'Rocaille' style and this collection - most of which has been borrowed from Edmond de Rothschild - offers an understanding of this art during the 1700s.

"Before his premature death at age 37, the painter, engraver and tireless draftsman Antoine Watteau (1684–1721) set his seal on the 18th century with the grace and spontaneity of his art," remarked the museum.

It can be found on the Sully Wing on the second floor of the museum and entrance is included in the cost of the museum ticket, which is €9 (£7.55).

The building is closed on Tuesdays and opens every other day from 09:00 local time, with the art space shutting at 18:00 on Mondays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, and 22:00 on Wednesdays and Fridays.
