AsiaRooms.com reports the Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre (DUCTAC) has organised a new exhibition, which will be shown throughout the Ramadan period at a local gallery.

Entitled Kalimat, the display will run between August 17th and September 13th 2010 at Manu Chhabria Arts Centre's Gallery of the Light.

Last year's Ramadan installation from DUCTAC was well received, which encouraged the organisation to go ahead with the 2010 event.

Billed by organisers as an exhibition on calligraphy, it will focus on the Arabic written word, looking specifically at the elegance of its characters and the way it has been used in a variety of contemporary and traditional artwork.

A number of specially chosen local artists, coming from a range of different cultural backgrounds, have been chosen to provide pieces for the event.

While they will no doubt all appear different to guests staying at Dubai hotels, each piece is designed to invoke "the spirit and tradition of Middle Eastern culture", the organisers explained.

The venue has played host to a number of displays from local and internationally renowned artists in the past.

It has been described by DUCTAC as a "wonderfully tranquil space" and those who visit it will no doubt take note of its unique visual arts hanging system.
