LateRooms.com - Check out Everyone is a Collector in Paris
July 22, 2010 (PRLEAP.COM) Travel News
LateRooms.com divulges everyone is a Collector is a new exhibition showing at Paris' Musée d'Orsay, which looks at the way pieces of art are presented.Guests at Paris hotels may find that the showcase strikes a chord with them, as it concerns a practice that is commonplace nowadays in the Western world.
The display, which is on show until November 7th, was conceived by a group of students studying at the Ecole du Louvre who wanted to investigate the concept of showing off decorative objects.
Many of the items that form part of the exhibition have previously been shown at the art space, but there are several new additions that ensure the show is fresh both for new visitors and for those who have been to the Musée d'Orsay before.
According to the organisers, the introduction of mass-produced bronzework in the 19th century was hugely important in the history of the presentation of art, since it allowed more people to buy decorative objects.
"The Musée d'Orsay is delighted to take part in this unusual experiment that entrusts future museum professionals with organising a public exhibition in a prestigious location," added the venue.
Entrance to the art space costs €8 (£6.70).
The venue is open from Tuesday to Sunday between 09:30 and 18:00 local time, except Thursday, when it shuts at 21:45.
While travellers are at the museum, they could also check out the Photography Not Art exhibition.
For more information on this event visit the Musée d'Orsay website or contact the venue on +33 (0)1 40 49 48 14.
