Wanda Arrington Akorede, author of The Other Wife: The story of an American woman who marries a Nigerian, goes to Nigeria to begin her new life, only to find she is not the only wife, (ISBN 0-9709247-0-4), has written the sequel to her groundbreaking novel “The Other Wife,” called “Difficult Choices.” Ms. Arrington Akorede wrote this book to expose the tragedy of polygamy when complicated with the fact that the women are not from the same race or culture.

After the departure of Janice the American wife, Lola does everything to erase the memory of Janice from their husband’s heart. The story is like nothing else on the market today. “Difficult Choices” is a novel that continues with the story of Olufemi, Janice and Lola. Janice falls in love with Olufemi a Nigerian who unknown to her is already married to Lola who is waiting for him to return to Nigeria. When Janice discovers the truth, she wishes she had investigated his culture before getting married to Femi. Difficult Choices is the story of an unusual love triangle.

According to Ms. Arrington Akorede, "these novels stand alone in many ways. There are few books on the market that write positive things about Africa. My books shows the reality by describing Lagos as any other cosmopolitan city with its middle and upper middle class families. It shows the beauty of Lagos that makes the reader want to visit Nigeria. “Difficult Choices,” is a romance between one man and two women. Women can identify with men who are unfaithful and have affairs. Men can understand how difficult it is to be involved with more than one woman."

“Difficult Choices,” tells the Nigerian woman’s story and the desperate moves she takes to remain married to a man who no longer wants her, she even goes so far as to become pregnant. But who is the father?

Ms. Arrington Akorede says, "my readers are complaining that I left them in the airport. They are anxiously awaiting “Difficult Choices,” to see what Janice does after leaving Nigeria. My characters are real people with lives similar to our own. They become entangled in a web of secrets, lie, and betrayal."

Ms. Arrington Akorede is married to a Nigerian and lived in Nigeria for ten years. She is completing work on her Masters Degree in counseling/psychology. “The Other Wife” and “Difficult Choices,” are being released simultaneously. She has several other fictional works that will follow, “Jamaica Blue,” “The Diplomats Wife,” and “The Charm Bracelet.”

Ms. Arrington Akorede is also a writer of children’s books; the first one, “The Closet,” was published in 2000 and “Aisha & Kari,” will be released this year. Ms. Arrington Akorede says. “I have had the opportunity to visit most of the exotic places in which my novels take place."
