Closer than we think -Towards a new understanding of Hubbert’s Peak
September 24, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
“The so called Hubbert’s peak in world oil production has always been seen as a geological constraint. In theory it is but in practice it appears as the peak of world oil production nears, several other factors, economic, political, and the negative climate changing effects of burning fossil fuels will conspire to create effective peak production sometime prior to the physical Hubbert’s peak. What this all means is that previous estimates of Hubbert’s peak will have been optimistic, as they are based more less solely on geology, while it has become apparent in a complex and chaotic world that there are other factors that have become just as important.” He said.Naresh speaks on ‘Peak Oil’ all over the UK. His next dates are Totnes, Devon, Wednesday 5th October at the Civic Hall, 7pm, and Reading, Berkshire, Monday 17th October, 7:30pm at RISC, 35-39 London St, RG1 4PS.
He is also conducting longer weekend workshops on ‘peak oil’ energy, and ecology. The next dates are in Totnes, Devon October 22-23rd, and Braziers Park, near Oxford, November 11-13th , 2005.
“I feel immensely privileged to be raising awareness about this incredibly important event” he said. “As this new data has shown, we are getting ever closer to an event- peak oil, that will affect everyone’s life whether they like it or not. I believe the best way to confront this challenging scenario is for as many people as possible to be doing as many different mitigating actions and problem solving enterprises to give us the greatest chance of avoiding major social and economic disruption that peak oil has the capacity to create” he said.
