AsiaRooms.com - Observe Anggara Kasih Tambir on a stay in Seminyak
June 16, 2010 (PRLEAP.COM) Travel News
AsiaRooms.com can announce that people who are staying in Seminyak hotels at the beginning of July could find it interesting to visit the temple of Tanah Lot for the Anggara Kasih Tambir celebrations. Also known as Anggara Kliwon, the festival is an "auspicious cleansing day" in the Balinese Hindu calendar.
People staying on the west side of the island could make the journey to Tanah Lot, one of the most picturesque temples in Bali due to its location on an island that is cut off by the high tide.
Those who want to pay their respects at the religious site need to walk out to the island across the beach at low tide.
According to the temple's website, the ceremony for Anggara Kasih Tambir is held on an "auspicious cleansing day for the mind of the individual family members and for the physical world all and all the creatures that inhabit it".
Balinese Hindus gather on this day to mediate and pray to Dewa Ludra. The god is meant to provide support to them in their efforts to cleanse their minds and the world around them.
Following the meditation, the metirtha gocara ceremony takes place. This involves offerings, burning sweet-smelling incense and decorating the family temple with flowers.
