AsiaRooms.com reports anyone who is staying in Bali hotels in mid July will find that their trip coincides with a Muslim holiday. On July 10th, Bali has a public holiday to celebrate Isra and Mi'raj, or the ascension of the prophet Muhammad.
Although the festivities are not likely to be as high-profile as some of the other religious events that happen on the island, there will still be plenty for visitors to take in.
Mosques in all of Bali's towns and cities will hold prayers to mark the occasion, while others will run special events, such as lectures or story readings.
Isra and Mi'raj, which is also known as the Night Journey and Ascension, is when the prophet Muhammad is said to have travelled to Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque one night before ascending to heaven.
While there, he met other prophets and was given specific instructions by Allah about the number of prayers that followers of the Muslim religion should observe on a daily basis.
For those who want to find out more about one aspect of Balinese culture, it could be a good idea to visit one of the mosques on the island at this time.
One of Bali's most famous and picturesque temples - Tanah Lot - will be holding ceremonies to mark Isra and Mi'raj.
