LateRooms.com can announce that anyone who loves nothing more than taking a good photo may want to stay in Auckland hotels in June when the city is hosting its Festival of Photography. The event is set to include the largest ever photographic exhibition to go on shown in New Zealand.
Running from June 4th to 27th, a host of activities have been arranged, focusing on the themes of culture, identity, participation and art.
Among the installations that will be displayed in venues around the city are exhibitions entitled Gazing at The Contemporary World: Japanese Photography from the 1970s to the Present and Old Masters: 19th Century NZ Photographers.
One unusual display being held throughout the duration of the festival is the NZ Body Art: Matariki Walking Art, where models will be painted with both contemporary and indigenous images each day at the Lake House Arts Centre.
Anyone who enjoys taking their own snaps may want to get involved with the Auckland Photo Day Competition, which gives photographers just 24 hours to capture an image which represents their city.
Due to be held on June 12th, there are no restrictions on what the photo can be of, it must simply sum-up Auckland and the people who live there.
