Last Sunday's edition of the San Francisco Chronicle called HotelShark.com "useful" for travelers "looking for some guidance about accommodations." The newspaper noted that HotelShark.com's candid hotel reviews are "fueled by input from ordinary travelers."

The article, entitled "Hotel Review Sites Reach for Critical Mass," ran in the travel section of the September 18, 2005 edition. The piece encouraged readers to visit www.hotelshark.com to "submit your own reviews — the more you do, the better the information will be available to all of us."

The endorsement is one of many that HotelShark.com has received from major newspapers this year. In January, London's The Independent (UK) called HotelShark.com one of the ten best travel websites in the world. In May, the New York Times advised business travelers to Europe to visit the site to “learn as much as you can about the accommodations.” The Chicago Tribune called HotelShark.com an "unbiased" source of hotel "reviews written by real-world travelers."
