AsiaRooms.com highlights people who have booked Singapore hotels in May might want to take the short boat ride to Bintan in order to watch the annual triathlon.

Every year, thousands of competitors travel to the Indonesian island to take part in the contest, which will be held between May 21st and 23rd this year.

The triathlon course takes the athletes through the South China Sea for the swimming leg of the race, before bringing them back to dry land where they will take part in the cycle section through the Nirwana Gardens and Ria Bintan.

For the run, the competitors will head back to the Nirwana Gardens and its beaches, where the swim began.

Anyone who is visiting Singapore and wants to see the spectacle can take a ferry from the Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, which takes just under one hour to make the crossing.

People who are feeling energetic and want to register for the event can do so through the official website.

In addition to the full-length race, there are also a number of short-course options taking place over the weekend as well as other activities, such as yoga classes.

Watching the races unfold is free; however, registration fees for participants range from between S$30 (£13.95) to S$215 depending on the event which is entered and the package chosen.
