AsiaRooms.com reports tourists who enjoy experiencing cultural festivities around the world may want to book themselves Hanoi hotels at the end of April.

All over the country, people celebrate the Liberation Day of South Vietnam on April 30th, which has been designated a national holiday.

The day marks the end of the Vietnam conflict - which is locally known as the American War - and in particular the anniversary of the capture of Saigon, later renamed Hoh Chi Minh City.

It is also important in the nation's history as this started the beginning of the reunification process which came to fruition on July 2nd 1976.

In previous years celebrations have included evenings of music and dancing at various venues around the city, as well as plays and other festivities.

However, due to the nature of the conflict, it has a sombre tone, with Vietnamese people taking time to remember all those lost during the years of war with the US.

Although April 30th 1975 was the official end to the war, many cities and regions around Vietnam also hold their own celebrations at different times of the year to mark specific dates of liberation.

For example, Hanoi holds further festivities on and around October 10th, which is when the city was released from American control during the war.
