RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC. Mi-Co announced today that CDP has expanded the company’s product line by using the Mi-Forms Software Development Kit to build a new mobile data capture product, CDPMobile. CDPMobile was released in conjunction with CDPims (Inspection Management System). These product offerings represent the latest generation of CDP’s Enterprise Health Systems for the public health market. CDPMobile is the first CDP product to take full advantage of Mi-Forms data capture components running on the Tablet PC. CDP’s desire to extend its product line with a digital writing solution for its Enterprise Health Systems Software led them to Mi-Forms software. Development capabilities within the Mi-Forms SDK greatly extend the built-in data capture capabilities of the Tablet PC.
In using the Mi-Forms SDK for the data capture component of the product, the CDP development team:
· built the specialized forms required for data capture in the environmental health arena using the Mi-Forms Designer
· added intelligence to the form by including business rules coded in VB.NET to ensure that the captured data is highly accurate
· provided an environment where state of the art handwriting recognition is combined with a truly natural correction process allowing the user to mark out, erase and write over when changes are desired
· populated the CDP Enterprise Health System Database by using Mi-Forms datapath technology
“When we first saw Mi-Forms 5 at the Mi-Co users group last May, we knew this was the development platform we wanted to use to extend our product line,” said Trevor Cannon, Systems Developer. “The flexibility of the Mi-Forms SDK, which is built upon the Microsoft .NET framework, is remarkable. We needed that type of flexibility in building enterprise solutions that use digital ink. The Mi-Forms team has a goal that the SDK will allow any solution requirement to be met with the SDK. Because of the extensive requirements of our users, Mi-Co’s “no barriers” approach was just what we needed at CDP.”
The Lincoln County, NC Environmental Health Department is CDP’s first customer for the new product offerings. With CDPmobile, environmental inspections and data collection in Lincoln County use the Tablet PCs and a handwriting interface instead of the previous paper based process.
Scott Sneed, Environmental Health Supervisor of Lincoln County stated, “This system is 500% better then anything we've seen or used. We've been using the TabletPC software (CDPmobile) for the past month with tremendous results. Now, with the integration of CDPims, we have a complete efficient mobile solution."
Lincoln County Environmental Health Department, NC went live with CDPims & CDPmobile on September 1, 2005.
