LateRooms.com can reveal that while listening to religious music may not be many people's first thoughts for a holiday activity, it is certainly worth considering during April.

This is because from April 15th to April 18th a host of choirs will descend on the Czech capital for its annual Musica Sacra Prague Choir Competition.

People visiting the city may find that they will be sharing their accommodation in Prague with singers from the event.

Choirs range from children's ensembles, to men and women-only outfits.

Any choir is eligible to join in the fun and can even opt to appear as a non-competitive group of singers and simply take part in the performances around Prague.

People who are interested in the event and want to hear what some of the musicians have to offer should visit one of the five venues hosting the shows to check performance details and ticket prices and availability.

During the three days, theatres such as National House of Vinhorady, Obecni Dum and the Collegium Marianum will see the singers belting out their sacred musical pieces, which must all come from the 16th, 17th or 19th centuries in addition to at least one work by a Czech composer.

The city is well known for its choral concerts, in December last year 16 choirs from around the world participated in the tenth annual Prague Christmas series.
