Los Angeles, Sept 16, 2005 – Paul Mould Publishing, in association with Empire Publishing Services USA, announced today the United States release of GOD’S HAMMER, a historical fiction novel by Los Angeles resident Eric Schumacher. GOD’S HAMMER peels away the covering of Dark Age history and resurrects the true tale of Hakon Haraldsson, a teenage boy who becomes the first Christian king of Norway in A.D. 935. The story begins with the ascension of Norway’s brutal king Erik to the throne. To solidify his position, Erik disposes of all opponents except his youngest brother Hakon, who is being fostered in the Christian court of the English king, Athelstan. Hakon returns to war-torn Norway at the young age of 14 to face his brother and claim the throne. Confronted with the limitations of his youth, the intolerance of the pagans he would rule and the political chaos of Dark Age Norway, Hakon Haraldsson discovers that true victory over Erik can only be obtained by sacrificing that which he holds most dear: his ideals.
Schumacher is a published writer who has written short stories and articles alike. His lifelong love affair with Dark Age Europe began as a child, and has persisted through his almost thirty years of studying, researching and writing about the subject. GOD’S HAMMER is his first novel.
