BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT project shortlisted for prestigious Transform 2010 Award in the category of Content - Best Use of Web/Digital for new public website and private Member Network. Both sites are driven by the Amaxus Web Content Management System. We are delighted that a project we worked on for BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, has been shortlisted in the Communicate Magazine Transform 2010: The UK's Rebranding Awards. The public website and Member Network have been shortlisted in the category of Content – Best Use of Web/Digital. Award winners will be announced in early March after a jury of over 20 of the UK's most esteemed branding consultants, academics and communications professionals make their final selections. Other Transform nominees include Aviva, Holiday Inn, Morrisons and Citroën.
Box UK, the company responsible for Amaxus, contributed to the website development process by providing consultation and guidance on the web strategy and User Experience for the new website and member network area (a secure web area where members of the Institute can network). Both areas are powered by our leading Web Content Management System Amaxus.
The project was part of an 18 month long organisation wide transformation strategy, a central element of which was the development of a new best-in-class web presence.
The resulting new public website and Member Network were launched in the autumn of 2009.
In addition to the new branding and design developed by UffindellWest, some of the key features of the BCS project include:
* A revitalised navigation and site architecture guided by the principals of User Centred Design.
* Improved content such as live news feeds and high quality editorial content.
* Relevant and powerful online networking for over 70,000 members through the BCS Member Network.
The rebranding strategy and new web presence has been a success. There has been sustained, increased traffic to the website and BCS has gained more visibility online. In November 2009, one article on the site made it to the Digg homepage, resulting in an additional 40,000 visitors to the website in one day. The Member Network has also been hugely successful, with an enthusiastic up take from a diverse range of the membership base.
"Working with BCS is always a wonderful experience. They genuinely value and embrace the importance of User Centred Design and it is reflected in how much thought they've put into the usability of the new website and Member Network," said James Downes, Box UK's Head of User Experience. "A big congratulations to them for this well deserved recognition."
